The Intricacies of Life, Love and Happiness

The Things I hate about Hollywood:

by admin on Mar.25, 2009, under Hollywood/Celebrities/Interests/Dirt & Gossip

Hollywood to me is somewhat of an idealistic dissappointment.  Its a place that really does technically exists in the world, however also has a strong fictitious, ambiguity all on its own.  As an fairly educated, young, African American male and having grown up as a product of the television age, I am still very dissappointed in the fact that Hollywood continues to uphold these old, dirty stereotypes of minorities, particularly African Americans.  These stereotypes can be seen all over the place in what is produced from Hollywood.  Have you ever stopped and noticed who the villain and who the saints usually are in modern movies from Hollywood? A more basic way to bring this point home is to say that the good guy, or girl is usually white and the villain or bad guy, girl is usually not only a minority but is usually black! What a coincidence!  I always seek to try and see things as they really are and not in some made up facade with blinders.  When will Hollywood realize that this old way doing things really does  ware on us minorities, especially black people due to the fact that it angers us that these stereotypes are still being dished out for the world to see! Has Hollywood learned anything? Or, better yet, should Hollywood really be the only one to blame for this phenomenon? Is it possible that even though we have come a long way as a society (arguably-speaking) particularly within the last 40-50 years, that Hollywood is only feeding on current white American ideologies that still exist regarding race?  Is there still an inferiority complex that exist?

Just now I have started to realize that I have moved away from Hollywood and that the issue (I believe) goes much, much deeper than idealistic, fictitious, live happily ever after world of Hollywood.

I have more interest in doing more posts regarding these issues and would love to hear other people’s ideas and beliefs on these and any other issues you would like to express.
